The Tantalus Theater Review needs you! I’m putting together a new zine dedicated to FFIX, probably one of the greatest and most underrated games of all time! It’s going to be a full color, digest sized zine (which is about 5.5 x 8.5 inches), and it will feature drawings and comics by yours truly as well as the work of a TON of other amazing artists.
PLEASE SUBMIT BEFORE THE END OF OCTOBER, IF YOU’D LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE! TO SUBMIT JUST SEND ME A LINK!
If you’re thinking, “Ugh! Free work?!” you should know that odds are, I’m going to be spending so much money on producing these books that they really won’t be turning a profit. This endeavor is really a true labor of love, annnnnnd not so much a good way to make money. HOWEVER! Please understand that these will most likely fly off the proverbial shelves once they are up for sale, and if you love this game and want to put your stamp on what will be a really cool collection of beautiful art that celebrates the masterpiece that was FFIX, contribute!
What I’m looking for: Comics, illustrations, and any art that captures the spirit of the game and it’s characters, as well as your personal reactions and experiences with the game. Anything is welcome so long as it fits the spirit of the zine and really celebrates the world and story of FFIX. Just be you and I’m sure it will be awesome.
What I’m not looking for: Drawings of the characters that are more concerned with accuracy than with emotional resonance or storytelling. Kinda vague? Sorry, I know. But just focus on your personal voice as an artist and you’ll be fine. Also, no yaoi. Please.
ONE MORE RATHER IMPORTANT THING! I hate to be exclusionary, but that’s the nature of a project like this. If you do something and it doesn’t get in, please don’t hate me! But all contributions are welcome, because I trust that there are talented people out there who I haven’t met yet and I’d like to!
The best way to do this is not to ask if you can contribute or not, just to create a really cool FFIX piece that fits the theme of the book, is sized at (or can be scaled down to) about 5.5x8.5 and send me a link. If it’s cool, I’ll just put it in. It’s that simple!
Thanks everybody! I hope to see some awesome art!
